Aghia Paraskevi
Planned on going to get costumes from the theater department today, meeting in the lounge at 8:30am and heading over. But before we went, I had to call all the people who hadn't given their local phone numbers to Suzanne so we could produce today. Lalalalala! Then we organized Katarina's freshly dry-cleaned costumes and got a little discouraged because the make-up/wardrobe had already spent a lot of money.
Our first real day of filming! We had rehearsed a little last night in a fake shoot type of way, but today it was the real deal. Everyone was on time and ready to go with their respective positions. It was awesome to watch everything come together so perfectly after so much planning and anticipating. The way Taso described filmmaking I was expecting obstacle after obstacle and was prepared for the worst- not necessary today! Everything went exactly as we had hoped, if a little something came up, like one of the actors cutting his foot, the production assistant took care of it, if we spontaneously added a new actor who needed a costume, wardrobe went into the theater department and found it: we were all prepared for the worst, and it turned out as the best.
The scene we shot today was George and the Janitor’s fight scene. Recap: Will and Tavis in lingerie, rolling around on marble, shouting and groaning. I know they’re just doing what they’re supposed to but it was so hilarious to watch! It was great to see Caitlin Marassi yelling “Camera: rolling. Sound: Speed. Action.” I guess I’m still in the stage of my life where I think it’s crazy to see young people with authority, but it’s starting to hit me that we’re not so young anymore! I’d also like to compliment the production assistants for providing the set with snacks: without them there would have been a lot of cranky crew members.Go Lillie and Hannah!
My main jobs today were calling the theater department and getting the keys to their wardrobe multiple times so we could dress our actors and making more copies of the script. As a little extra I was the only one on set who had an umbrella when it started to rain during the Janitor’s fantasy sequence so I held mine over the expensive cameras. So far I love being producer and doing behind-the scenes work. I thought I’d be envious of the actors but I’m beginning to realize my personality is much better suited off camera than on, and for once I’m totally okay with this!
